Liverpool's manager admits it promises to be a tough job to boost underperforming Liverpool

The Dutch manager declared that he faces a significant test to revive Liverpool after Manchester United prevailed at Anfield for the maiden instance in more than a decade, handing a fourth consecutive setback on the faltering Premier League champions.

Inefficiency and Defensive Lapses

The Liverpool head coach blamed inefficiency in front of goal and further defensive errors on dead balls from his side for their most recent setback, as Ruben Amorim celebrated the first pair of successive league triumphs of his United reign.

Harry Maguire, whose decisive header ensured victory, confessed it was "humiliating" that United had needed over 50 fixtures to attain that record under Amorim.

Missed Opportunities

The Liverpool coach claimed it was unthinkable for Liverpool to suffer a loss in a contest in which they created so many clear chances. The Liverpool forward rattled the goal frame three times and missed a clear-cut chance to head home a tying strike in the late stages. But having fallen to Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, a rival, and now United, the Dutch coach admitted he has a task on his hands to stop Liverpool's damaging sequence.

Persistent Tests

"In my role, you always face difficulties," remarked Slot. "At the beginning and you must secure victories, upon moving to a more prominent side, when you are the replacement of Jürgen Klopp and supporters are saying: 'It represents the biggest challenge you have ever faced.' Now we have lost four times in a row and that is likewise a test. The life of a team boss is truly an perpetual challenge."

Belief and Execution

"But do we lose confidence? I do not observe that currently because each match we've lost we were able to create in the latter period an incredible number of opportunities. If we can maintain creating what we are achieving and possibly do a few things a somewhat more effectively, then there is every reason to anticipate that we will secure football games again. Of course there is the additional factor that, besides the two goals we allowed, we conceded maybe two or three more chances. This is continually the struggle we have when we are trailing by a goal, then you need to take a slightly greater of a chance."

Officiating Debate

The manager believed the umpire, the ref, needed to halted play before the scorer's 62-second opener because of a concussion suffered by Mac Allister. The Liverpool midfielder needed wound closure in a gash. But the manager stated: "The key point I ought to do now is avoid complaining at these matters. We needed to execute far better after Macca was on the floor but the safety of the athletes is vital and if a player requires medical attention, you would hope all parties understands he needed treatment. But we should have executed more effectively and that is not the cause we were defeated. The reason is we missed way too many opportunities to secure victory in a match."

Rival Perspectives

Ruben Amorim declared United's fight and calmness was crucial to success at Anfield, notably after the Liverpool player equalized for Liverpool in the latter stages, but asserted the finest result of his turbulent reign would not change any objectives for the term.

The United head coach remarked: "I want you guys [the media] to persist with the narrative that you have so I do not intend to elevate the objective. What we need to do is try to win a trio of successive fixtures now and forget about top four or higher finishes. We already said we want to go to international tournaments. This changes nothing. We are the identical side we were before the match."

Squad Responses

The defender, however, called the win as "enormous" for United as they eventually secured two consecutive Premier League victories under the head coach. United's goal scorer said: "It's shameful honestly. It's not a figure that we need to mention because it is an embarrassing record to have."

"Having overcome that, we aim and secure a third [wins] on the weekend against the Seagulls, because we have to start displaying a slightly greater consistency together. The recent seasons we'd deliver a display like this and the next match we come down again. We have established a standard, there are numerous aspects we can do more."

"Amorim seeks excellence so I'm sure he will desire us to play more effectively than we did in the final 45 minutes. Great effort, big morale, major victory, but as always we must proceed again."
