Football Roundup: Denver Narrowly Beat Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Battle

In a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 victory over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late go-ahead field goal to seal the hard-fought win.

Defensive Performance Wins Contest

Despite registering nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 offensive yards throughout the entire game.

Nix, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard kick with approximately five minutes remaining.

Record Difficulties for Jets Offense

In spite of their dismal performance, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to score a potential winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when head coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion rather than calling on specialist Nick Folk for a long field-goal attempt.

The Jets quarterback had difficulties throughout, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.

"The aerial attack was completely absent," the coach commented following the contest.
